Bright Horizon Sanctuary
Native American Horses
HONOR, PROTECT, EDUCATE, PRESERVE

Our journey began in April 2015 when a friend gave us tickets to The Horse Show in Madison, WI. While watching the show they brought in a stallion, named Mica, with native accents painted on him and wearing a blue feather in his mane. He walked proudly into the arena to the music and drum of Native Americans. His story was told of his Native American decent. His blood line from the ancients. He was not just a mustang, but a Native American horse. He was one of the few left on earth. While watching Mica and listening to the story, we were moved as if being guided to these horses.

It was especially apparent to Cheryl, being of Native American decent. We searched the fairgrounds and found Mica's stall, then we received the information. That lead us to Sean and Yevette Collin and The Sacred Way Sanctuary in Florence, Alabama. The study by the University of Alaska. We learned the story of these ancient creatures and of the Spirit Horse Preservation Program. At this time Cheryl received a vision "dream" where she saw a horse, a specific horse, that came to her.

We prayed and asked God "our creator" to help and guide us. Yevette Collin also prayed and received a vision, one of the same horse that was in the herd in Alabama. Yevette asked us to come right away. In May we were on our way from Wisconsin to Alabama. We met Sean and Yevette and their family and toured the Sacred Way Sanctuary. When we arrived at the pasture that held Cheryl's spirit horse the mare did indeed approach Cheryl. The horse was named Cekiya. She was Cheryl's one woman horse, as we had prayed we were lead to start a small herd of 3 mares and a stallion. We chose our horses as they chose us. Cekiya, a mare, Pejuta a mare, Lavendar a mare, and Sage a stallion. The horses arrived at Bright Horizon Sanctuary on June 14, 2015.

We are now a part of this important and exciting program as care takers of these ancient bloodline Native American horses. We are the first participating sanctuary and care takers located in Wisconsin. This program and these horses have both enriched and enlightened our lives. Feel free to contact us for more information on the horses or how to become a caretaker.
